During the filming of a motorcycle stunt on March 18 for The Death Cure, the third and final movie in the Maze Runner trilogy, actor Dylan O’Brien was seriously injured, to the point production temporarily shut down while he recovered.

Shooting on the dystopian Fox film was expected to resume May 9, but O’Brien’s injuries are turning out to be more severe than originally thought, leading to the production halting indefinitely while he recovers.

“His injuries are very serious and he needs more time to recover,” O’Brien’s publicist, Jennifer Allen, said.

Among O’Brien’s injuries in March were broken bones in the face and elsewhere, lacerations, and a concussion.

The Death Cure wasn’t set to be released until February 17, 2017, but that was contingent on filming being able to resume in the next two weeks.

Fox has not yet announced a new release date.
