If you’ve seen a single advertisement for August’s Suicide Squad, you know the breakout character is already assured to be Margot Robbie’s unstable Harley Quinn. The character has proven so immensely popular, she’s already getting another movie.
Don’t expect it to be a one-woman show, however. Warner Bros. isn’t commenting. According to a source for The Hollywood Reporter, the film will focus on multiple female heroes and villains within the DC catalogue.
Other characters rumoured to be in the picture are Katana (played by Karen Fukuhara in Suicide Squad), Batgirl, Poison Ivy, Bumblebee, and the Birds of Prey.
The idea came from Robbie herself, whose deep research into the character of Quinn prior to filming sparked an interest in telling the stories of other female characters from the comic.
No release date or information has been released. The untitled spinoff is currently being written.
