Universal Pictures’ upcoming adaptation of Dr. Seuss’s beloved How the Grinch Stole Christmas! will be skipping at least one more holiday season.

The animated tale of true Christmas spirit, previously slated to hit theatres on November 10, 2017, will now be arriving November 9, 2018.

While Universal Pictures gave no reason for the shift, a likely factor was its sandwiching between two superhero behemoths. Thor: Ragnarok, the final in Marvel’s Thor trilogy, arrives on November 3, 2017. November 17 will then see the release of DC’s Justice League, Part One.

For now, the Benedict Cumberbatch-voiced feature has free run of November 2018, although it’s expected the first sequel to this fall’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be apparating into multiplexes around that same time.

Suess’ Christmas classic has been adapted twice before, as an animated TV special in 1966 and as a live-action feature film in 2000.
