The first weekend of July has always been a big one for box office, with the confluence of Canadian and American long weekends.

CORE STORY: Indiana teen accused of three murders claims he was “purging”

Between May 12 and May 15 in Indianapolis, IN, three men were shot and killed in cold blood. Jonathan Cruz, a 19-year-old Indianan, was arrested on May 16 on other felony charges, including robbery and intimidation, and subsequently charged with their murders.

Court documents now reveal that Cruz allegedly told a witness he was “purging,” during the three-day period Billy Boyd, Jay Higginbotham, and Jose Ruiz were murdered. Continue reading

REVIEW: The Purge: Anarchy

If you liked last year’s The Purge, you’ll like The Purge: Anarchy. Best to just state that right off the bat. If you’re one of the many who vicariously loved the senseless violence, the gratifying gore, and heartless torture of the original, the sequel has even more of all of that. If, however, you felt the original had a great premise that ultimately devolved into a gleeful showcase of the violence it claimed to denounce, you’re going to find The Purge: Anarchy even worse.
